Micropen to Treat Fine Lines & Acne Scars and Improve Skin Texture and Tone

Frequently Asked Questions About Micropen

What is Micropen?

Micropen is an innovation in aesthetic medical device use to treatment fine lines, acne scars, and to improve the skin’s texture and tone. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

What are the benefits?

The benefits include wrinkle reduction, texture, tone improvement and softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Producing new collagen reverses years of damage. We recommend this treatment for acne scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles and to improve the tone and texture of skin.

Does it hurt?

We use a topical numbing cream that remains on the skin 40 minutes prior to the treatment so the majority of patients are very comfortable during the treatment. The feeling associated with the Micropen is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin.

How long does the procedure take and is there any downtime?

The procedure takes 15-50 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. Keep in mind this does not include the time that it will take to numb the area we will be treating. There are a couple of days of downtime. Immediately after the treatment you skin will feel sensitive and will be red. Most patients describe it to feel much like a sunburn. There also maybe some mild swelling. You will need to stay out of the sun following each treatment. Appropriate skincare will be discussed at your treatment so you will be well protected following each treatment.

What kind of results can I expect to see?

Patients will notice an immediate glow to their skin, but visible changes develop over the course of several weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatments continues.

How many treatments will I need?

It depends on what we are treating. We usually recommend 4 as the minimum but patients can need up to 6 to 8 treatments.
